At the HyMobility event in the Provincial House of Utrecht, Consortium partner Green Planet and HyPlanet marked a symbolic milestone for the realization of an H2 Trailer Fill Station in Delfzijl. The signing of certificates by selected suppliers and key financiers represents an important step in the development of the multifuel filling station and the broader hydrogen ecosystem in the North of the Netherlands.
The H2 Trailer Fill Station is a critical link in an integrated hydrogen chain, connecting production, infrastructure, transport, and supply for both mobility and industrial applications.
The collaboration around the station covers the full hydrogen supply chain: from injection into the pipeline to bulk delivery via trailers to locations across Northern Netherlands. This positions the Delfzijl station not as an isolated filling point, but as a strategic infrastructure asset that makes hydrogen broadly accessible for logistics and industrial use.
The station is designed with an initial capacity of 2,000 kilograms of hydrogen per day, with a growth pathway to 4,000 kilograms per day. Commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2026, with the official opening planned in 2027.
Thanks to its scale and integrated approach, the station will play a pivotal role in advancing hydrogen mobility and industrial applications. The project is significant not only for Northern Netherlands, but also nationally and potentially at the European level.
“Hydrogen helps,” says Edward Doorten, entrepreneur and initiator of Green Planet and HyPlanet. “It supports Europe in becoming more energy-independent and less vulnerable to geopolitical risks. Equally important, hydrogen reduces our reliance on China for critical rare earth metals, while contributing to cleaner air. This is what drives Green Planet and HyPlanet every day to make hydrogen a success.”
A broad consortium of partners is involved in the project. Key suppliers include On2Quest, Adicomp, Neuman & Esser, Kampen Industrial Care, Soluforce, MAN, Roordink, and Wierda Bedrijfswagens. Financiers and partners include the Clean Hydrogen Partnership (EU), New Energy Coalition, ABN AMRO, the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure & Water Management, the Wadden Fund, and the National Program Groningen.
The H2 Trailer Fill Station in Delfzijl exemplifies HEAVENN’s mission: building a robust hydrogen ecosystem in Northern Netherlands where collaboration and innovation accelerate sustainable mobility, industrial applications, and regional energy transition.
